Bleak Moments: Leigh's directing debut is a strong, intensely human drama, which charts the plight of a desolate office worker (Raitt) who looks after her retarded sibling and wishes that her relation with a school teacher can develop into to matrimony. Cast includes Anne Raitt, Sarah Stephenson, Eric Allan, Julia Cappleman, Mike Bradwell, and Liz Smith. (111 minutes, 1971)
Bullitt: Definitive McQueen anti-hero part that he grows to love. As a cop trying to keep is witness alive. McQueen sees a lot of bloodshed as the mob is out to kill the man he must protect. Cast includes Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Don Gordon, and Robert Duvall. (113 minutes, 1968)
Inglorious Bastards: 5 cadets getting ready to be court-martialed in WW2 take off and try to make their way through France, wishing to get to the Swiss border. Cast includes Ian Bannen, Bo Svenson, Fred Williamson, Peter Hooten, and Michael Pergolani. (100 minutes, 1978)
Mark of the Vampire: This film is an admirable, fascinating story of vampires terrorizing European village. The film is beautifully finished, with a marvelous ending. It is a redo of Browning's quiet London after Middle of the night. Cast includes Lionel Barrymore, Elizabeth Allan, Bela Lugosi, Lionel Atwill, Jean Hersholt, and Donald Meek. (61 minutes, 1935)
Good Times: Back when the harmonizing twosome was still considered wacky, they made this entertaining little film, with Sonny day dreaming about their potential film roles and he and Cher harmonizing "I Got You Babe." Cast includes Sonny and Cher, George Sanders, Norman Alden, and Larry Duran. (91 minutes, 1967)
Alien Nation: In the near future, a race of strange-looking aliens is gradually (and grudgingly) being integrated into civilization. World weary L.A. cop (James Caan) takes one of the aliens on as his partner, so he could track down the aliens who murdered his prior associate. Cast includes James Caan, Mandy Patinkin, Terence Stamp, Kevin Chief Howard, and Leslie Bevins. (94 minutes, 1988)
Siddhartha: A choppy rendition of the Hermann Hesse novel that follows an Indian as he leaves his family to a find more stimulating life. This film is too artsy, although on-location photography by Sven Nykvist is often illuminating. Cast includes Shashi Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Romesh Shama, Pinchoo Kapoor, Zul Vellani, and Amrik Singh. (95 minutes, 1973)
The Great McGinty: This film was Sturges' directorial debut (and Oscar winning screenplay) and isn't up to his later comedy classics, however Donlevy is phenomenal as the bum who is put into the governor's chair by crooked politicians and then blows it all by trying to be truthful. Cast includes Brian Donlevy, Muriel Angelus, Akim Tamiroff, Allyn Joslyn, and Louis Jean Heydt. (81 minutes, 1940)
Macaroni: An uptight American businessman goes to Naples and finds some incomplete personal business left over from his last visit while he was an amorous cadet in the Second World War. 2 of the most charming entertainers ever try to keep this film together, and nearly triumph. Cast includes Jack Lemmon, Marcello Mastroianni, Daria Nicolodi, Isa Danieli, and Maria Luisa Saniella. (104 minutes, 1985)
